Health and Safety
Wings of Sound is committed to providing experiences in a safe, calm and professionally managed environment.
Risk assessments and appropriate safety procedures will be used according to the type of session, participants and venue.
Before attending
Please tell Wings of Sound about any health condition, injury, disability, pregnancy, sensory requirement or other circumstance that could reasonably affect your safe or comfortable participation.
You should not attend if you are acutely unwell, have a contagious illness, have a fever or have been advised by a healthcare professional not to participate.
For water-based sessions, additional restrictions may apply where illness could create a hygiene or water-safety risk.
If you are uncertain whether an experience is suitable for you, please seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before attending.
During your experience
You are encouraged to listen to your body.
You may:
• change position;
• sit rather than lie down;
• move further away from an instrument;
• choose not to participate in a particular element;
• leave the session if necessary; or
• ask for assistance.
Please never feel that you have to remain uncomfortable simply because a session has started.
Wings of Sound may modify, pause or stop an activity where there is a reasonable concern about safety.
Emergency procedures and venue-specific rules will be followed where applicable.
Contraindictions & Health Information
Sound baths are generally intended as gentle wellbeing experiences, but individual circumstances vary.
Please contact Wings of Sound before booking, and consider obtaining appropriate medical advice where relevant, if you:
• have a serious or unstable medical condition;
• have recently undergone surgery or a significant medical procedure;
• have an acute injury;
• experience seizures or have epilepsy;
• have a condition affected by sound, vibration or sensory stimulation;
• use an implanted electronic medical device;
• have significant hearing sensitivity, tinnitus or another condition affected by sound;
• have significant balance or mobility difficulties;
• experience severe dizziness or vertigo;
• have a significant respiratory or cardiovascular condition;
• are pregnant and are unsure whether your chosen experience is appropriate;
• have been advised to restrict breathing exercises, pool activity or similar activities; or
• have any other condition that makes you uncertain about participating.
The presence of a health condition does not automatically mean that you cannot attend.
In many cases an experience can be adapted. The important thing is that relevant information is disclosed so that appropriate arrangements can be considered.
Breathwork
Pranayama or conscious-breathing elements may not be suitable in the same form for everyone.
Participants should never force, strain or hold their breath beyond what feels comfortable.
If you become dizzy, light-headed, distressed, short of breath or uncomfortable, return to your normal breathing pattern and inform the facilitator.
Breathwork can be modified or omitted.
Pregnancy Information
Pregnant guests are welcome at appropriate Wings of Sound experiences.
However, pregnancy is individual, and comfort and suitability can change throughout pregnancy.
Please tell Wings of Sound that you are pregnant before participating so that appropriate arrangements can be considered.
If you have pregnancy complications, have been advised to restrict activity, have concerns about sound, breathing exercises, heat, water immersion or positioning, or are
otherwise uncertain, please obtain advice from your midwife, doctor or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional before attending.
During a sound bath
Your comfort comes first.
You should not remain flat on your back if this is uncomfortable or contrary to advice you have received. Side-lying, seated and supported positions may be used.
Instruments will not intentionally be placed directly onto a pregnant participant's abdomen.
Sound levels and proximity to instruments can be adjusted.
Breathwork during pregnancy
Any breathing practice offered during pregnancy should remain gentle and comfortable.
Pregnant participants should not undertake forceful breathing techniques or prolonged breath retention as part of a Wings of Sound session.
You may participate in the sound-bath element without participating in breathwork.
Water experiences
Please tell us in advance if you are pregnant and wish to attend a floating or immersed-water experience.
Entry and exit, water temperature, balance, mobility and your individual circumstances will be considered.
Where you have been advised not to use pools or undertake water-based activity during pregnancy, you should not participate in a water session.
Pool & Water Safety
Water-based Wings of Sound experiences require additional safety arrangements.
The rules of the host pool or venue must always be followed.
Floating Sound Baths
During a Floating Sound Bath, participants rest on top of the water on a specially designed floating bed.
This is different from an immersed sound bath.
Participants must:
• follow instructions when entering and leaving the pool;
• wait until invited before getting onto or off a floating bed;
• avoid standing, jumping or deliberately rocking on floating equipment;
• tell staff immediately if they feel unsafe, unwell or uncomfortable; and
• follow venue and facilitator instructions throughout.
Immersed Water Sound Baths
During an Immersed Water Sound Bath, participants are in the water and supported using appropriate flotation equipment.
Additional supervision/support will be used where required.
Children
Children's water experiences are subject to additional safeguards.
For children under 5, a parent or responsible adult must be in the pool with the child.
For appropriate sessions involving children aged 6 and over, Wings of Sound will use additional pool support alongside the practitioner where required by the session's risk assessment.
Age, confidence in water, individual needs, venue requirements and the nature of the session will all be considered.
Parents/guardians must provide accurate information about their child's swimming ability, medical needs and additional support requirements.
Water hygiene
Please do not attend a pool session if you have an illness or condition that could make pool attendance unsafe or create an infection/hygiene risk.
Participants must follow the venue's showering, swimwear and hygiene requirements.
Never hide a water concern
You do not need to be embarrassed about being nervous around water.
Please tell us.
Knowing this allows us to support you properly and determine whether the particular experience is suitable.
Frequently Asked Questions
I've never done a sound bath before. Does that matter?
Not at all. Many people attending Wings of Sound will be experiencing a sound bath for the first time.
There is nothing you need to learn beforehand.
Do I need to know how to meditate?
No.
You simply make yourself comfortable and listen.
Do I have to be spiritual?
Absolutely not.
Wings of Sound welcomes people with different beliefs and backgrounds. You can experience a sound bath simply as an opportunity to slow down, listen and take some time for yourself.
What is a Floating Sound Bath?
You lie on a specially designed floating bed on top of the water while experiencing sound around you.
You are not deliberately immersed in the pool.
What is an Immersed Water Sound Bath?
You are in the water and supported with suitable flotation equipment while experiencing the sound around you.
It is different from our floating-bed experience.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Please tell us about your swimming ability and confidence before booking a water experience.
The requirements can differ depending on the session, venue and whether you are floating on a bed or participating in an immersed experience.
Never hide the fact that you are a non-swimmer or nervous around water — we would much rather know.
Will I get wet during a Floating Sound Bath?
You are on a floating bed rather than intentionally immersed, but because the experience takes place in a pool environment, you should be prepared for the possibility of getting wet.
Can pregnant women attend?
Potentially, yes.
Please tell us that you are pregnant before participating and read our Pregnancy Information.
If you have complications or are unsure whether a particular activity is appropriate, seek advice from your healthcare professional.
Can children attend?
Yes. Wings of Sound offers experiences designed specifically for children and families.
Age restrictions, parent participation and supervision arrangements depend on the particular session.
Do parents have to get into the pool?
For water experiences involving children under 5, a parent/responsible adult must be in the pool with their child.
Requirements for older children depend on the particular experience and safety arrangements.
What if my child doesn't want to continue?
We will never expect a distressed child to continue simply because a session has been booked.
Children should be supported gently and appropriately.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing for land-based sessions and appropriate swimwear for water sessions.
Check your booking confirmation for anything specific.
What should I bring?
Usually water and comfortable clothing for land sessions; swimwear, towel and change of clothes for water sessions.
Your confirmation will tell you what equipment Wings of Sound provides.
Are the instruments placed on my body?
Wings of Sound primarily provides immersive sound-bath experiences around participants. If a particular experience ever involves closer or direct use of an instrument, this will be explained and appropriate consent obtained.
Is a sound bath medical treatment?
No.
Wings of Sound offers wellbeing experiences. We do not diagnose or treat medical or mental-health conditions.
Can I leave during a session?
Yes.
If you become uncomfortable or unwell, you can change position, ask for assistance or leave.
For a water session, please alert the facilitator/support staff and follow the safe exit procedure rather than attempting to leave equipment unaided.
What if I am sensitive to sound?
Please tell us before the session.
Where appropriate, you may be positioned further from certain instruments or other reasonable adjustments can be considered.
What happens if I fall asleep?
It happens! There is no requirement to remain intensely focused throughout the experience.
What if I feel emotional?
People respond to quiet, sound and stillness in different ways.
You are welcome to take a moment, change position or leave if you need to.
Wings of Sound does not interpret emotional responses as medical or therapeutic outcomes.
Do I have to do the breathwork?
No.
If your session includes Pranayama or conscious breathing and you do not wish to participate in that part, tell the facilitator. You can return to natural breathing at any time.
Can I attend after drinking alcohol?
Please don't attend a session while impaired by alcohol or recreational drugs, particularly for water-based experiences.
Can I take photographs during a session?
Please respect the privacy of other participants.
Photography or filming during group sessions should only take place where expressly permitted.
Will Wings of Sound photograph me or my child?
Only in accordance with the photography/video permissions obtained for the particular session.
Promotional photography permission is optional and is not a condition of participation.
What happens if I am late?
Please contact us if possible.
Once a session or water safety briefing has begun, late entry may not be possible.

Private experiences can be arranged for individuals, couples, families and small groups, subject to venue and availability.
